Thursday 13th December – Ryder-Cheshire Ivanhoe Homes Christmas Party
Our annual Ryder-Cheshire Ivanhoe Homes was celebrated in style this year with many residents, committee members, staff and volunteers attending. The food was wonderful, company sparkling and enthusiastic carol singing topped it off.
This year Angie, our Office Manager, celebrated ten years of dedication to the Home. Here is a picture of our President, Don Hamilton, presenting her with some token’s of appreciation at the Christmas party.
Friday 7th December – Morning/Afternoon Tea Volunteer Appreciation Event
According to Sr Jane, morning coffee and afternoon tea programs have been running at he home for around thirty years. All of the sandwiches and cakes are donated as are the raffle prizes. During that time, the profits from the program, averaging $1500 annually have been donated to Ivanhoe Homes. In addition, many of the attendees at the program buy gifts from the trading table. A morning tea as put on for the most recent refreshment contributors of the program to thank them for their wonderful sandwiches and cakes provided monthly. From next year, the Alphington CWA will kindly be providing refreshments.
Thursday 29th November Music Night
Deb, Geoff and John entertained us with another wonderful music evening. One of our residents, Ray, accompanied them who ‘has a beautiful mesmerizing, soothing voice’, which was enjoyed by all. We are all looking forward to the trio returning in 2019.
Wednesday 28th November – Monthly Afternoon Tea Fundraising Event
The last monthly speaker scheduled for 2018 was pianist extraordinaire Dorothy Nowell who was accompanied by an enthusiastic gathering singing Christmas Carols and getting into the festive spirit.
Tuesday 6th November 2018 – Melbourne Cup Celebration
One of our Resident Carers’, Anne, kindly prepared and hosted a sumptuous Melbourne Cup afternoon tea this year, including the traditional cup sweep. The gathering was held in the community room where the race could be watched on the big screen.
October 2018 – Merle Giblo Appreciation
Merle Giblo was honoured at the October afternoon tea with a ‘high flyer’ certificate. Merle has been distributing flyers for the morning coffee and afternoon tea program for many years to the library and local churches. Merle was also one of the many ladies who contributed to the refreshments for the morning coffee/afternoon tea program for many years.
Thursday 27th September 2018 Music Night
Certificates of Appreciation for Deb, Geoff and John were individually presented to them by Don (our President) and Angie (our Office Manager). This trio have tirelessly supported the Ivanhoe Homes for many years now coming down each month to entertain our residents, giving them something special to look forward to.
